12 Days of Baking: Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cubes imperial margarine
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 6 cups Fairhaven Mill Organic All Purpose White Flour
  • 3/4 butter, softened
  • 3/4 brown sugar & cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve dry yeast & lukewarm water
  2. In a large bowl with an airtight seal, add melted imperial margarine
  3. Add boiling water, sugar, salt, & eggs
  4. Add yeast mixture
  5. Add flour
  6. Mix well, dough should be sticky
  7. Refrigerate overnight - dough will rise once
  8. Roll dough onto floured surface into rectangle 
  9. Spread softened butter over dough and then add the brown sugar & cinnamon mixture
  10. Roll into log and cut into even-sized slices
  11. Put flat in a greased 9x13 pan
  12. Cover & let rise until doubled
  13. Bake at 400° F for 12-15 minutes
  14. Let cinnamon rolls cool for a few minutes
  15. Make the icing when cinnamon rolls are cooling by mixing powdered sugar & almond extract and then adding the milk or cream slowly until you have a thick, but able to drizzle frosting
  16. Frost the cinnamon rolls and serve warm
  17. Enjoy!
